Senior Year Experience & The HESA Program

The UConn Senior Year Experience Program has partnered with the Higher Education & Student Affairs program to provide HESA students with an extensive hands-on application. Throughout the Fall semester HESA students will have numerous opportunities to facilitate SYE discussion groups and provide Seniors with relevant and vital information.

HESA students take part in the SYE mission, helping to promote "a successful transition for college students to the world beyond the University." The SYE component helps further the HESA goals of enabling students in the program to graduate with diverse and practical experiences that are beneficial to the graduates' careers.

Beginning in the fall of 2006, HESA students now receive a practicum credit for their participation in the SYE program. After attending weekly lectures with the SYE participants, HESA Students meet with groups of Seniors during the week to discuss topics of importance to students preparing to transition from Student to Professional. The continued commitment from HESA in support of the SYE efforts is indicative of the connection between departments at the University of Connecticut.

The Senior Year Experience at UConn is also a testament to the university's progressive endeavors; the SYE program is part of a nationwide effort to provide graduating students the tools necessary to succeed and flourish as a professional. HESA students are fortunate to be early adopters of this growing movement in Higher Education.
